What do you want to do in the public space and why?

Suspend a mass of flowering purple Vanda orchid plants with roots and grandfathered beard to the current Smith Street Mall structures to create more colours in the area and a greener city.

How you will make this project happen?

I have been a florist for 20 years and these projects are what I have done in New York, Singapore and Sydney. We would need to work at night using a scissor lift working each plant to the structure

When will the project start and finish? How long will it take?

Installation should be close to the end of the wet season. Maybe around the time Bruce Munro installation finishes to create a new living look to the city. The plants will last 2-3 months. Installation would take on week.

What permits or whose permission will you need to implement the project? What do you already have and what will you need to obtain?

Permits from Darwin City Council. Fusion team has scissor lift licences.

How will you deliver the project, including how many people will be involved and any partnerships you have developed?

Hire a local grower from the Orchid Association to grow the plants. Installation would be done by the Fusion team.  At the end the plants can be given away so there is zero waste.

How will you know your project is successful?

If it attracts more people to the mall. Lift in retail sales.
