What you want to do in the public space and why?

Local choreographer and dance practitioner Kristy Jayne Love will team up with videographer Synta Routh to highlight Darwin and all its intricate complexities through dance and projection. Local dancers will bring the screen to life through shadow and movement. The public will be invited to sit down and interact with artists while enjoying the abstract visual images that capture the people and place of the N.T.

How you will make this project happen?

Synta’s Footage will be drawn from remote dance communities, old aged care facilities, disability services, urban culture and our natural resources. Professional video projector will be required along with adequate seating, a stage and sound system. Kristy Jayne Ziolek has a dance group that would form the dance artists for the event who would prepare for this love theatre performance during in studio rehearsals. A technical and front of house staff member along with security would form part of the team. An event company would be hired to prepare the stage area that would be protected by a waterproof marque.

When will the project start and finish? How long will it take?

The interactive experience would last for one hour and would run on a Thursday and Friday evening from 7-8pm during December. The preparation time would begin as soon as project was accepted.

What permits or whose permission will you need to implement the project? What do you already have and what will you need to obtain?

Permits would be required by China Town, Darwin City Council & neighbouring businesses.

How will you deliver the project, including how many people will be involved and any partnerships you have developed?

This project would involve a dance team of around 8 professional dance practitioners in addition to choreographer Kristy Jayne and videographer Synta Routh. Fusion would set up the space stage and Marquee and DEC’s lighting and sound technician would run behind the technical requirements. Community dancers from Rix Kix Arts Dance Studio would be offered a performance opportunity by taking part in this interactive pop up visual Dance live theatre project.

How will you know your project is successful?

The event will be interactive and feedback forms and a Q&A session will follow the event.
