What a transformation for Darwin CBD, at last we see the true heart of Darwin taking root.

The Cooee tree welcomes all to Darwin and invites you to share in the rich culture of the Darwin landscape. Daily reading sessions 10.30 am with invited storytellers get to share their favourite story

3 times a week @ 3pm there is culturally specific storytelling in native language with translation.

Cooinda tree with its huge canopy is a welcome resting place out of the hot sun and is a place of peace and acceptance the sharing of wisdom from past to present, not only invites all ages to enjoy the art of storytelling with its many different styles, reading books, telling stories, poetry, sign reading, dance, music, painting, we grow richer in knowledge and respect for our differences.

The cooee tree has regular school excursions, local and rural community visitors, parents and children.

From the young to the Elderly, holiday makers, personal development programmes, prison inmate secured release days, all celebrating this wonderful addition to Darwin, highlighting the boundless possibilities when we take time to rest, listen and learn.

The roster for the Cooee tree readers is maintained in council and submissions from all sectors of the community is welcomed, religious literature is not permitted. Welcome to country from Larrakia nation is performed at the beginning of each session.
